THOLOS Cropped Shirt

This is my first textile print made available directly to the public from my studio. In recent years I have made several artworks that disseminate a single fabric length to members of the public. The idea behind this that an artwork can exist in many places at once - and unlike a paper edition, that exists only in a frame, this work can be transformed into many kinds of everyday objects, such as clothes, upholstery, bags, tea-towels – however it fits into your life. 

THOLOS was created from a weaving of dried plants and flowers found on the eastern coast of the island of Aegina, where I live. The original weaving was ephemeral, but by transforming it into a textile pattern, it unfolds itself and finds a life beyond its origin under the shade of pine trees by the sea. 

My textiles reflect the landscape I live in, where I am rooted. They speak of the things I find around me, of how I live between nature and my studio. They are a continuation of the twenty years of my practice as an artist in the world of contemporary art: beautiful, thoughtful, and communicative. Unlike many things in the contemporary art world they are also approachable, affordable and sustainable, for me, and for you, who make it part of your life too.
